About the Coaches

Today, the team is coached by Tom Migdalski, Director of Club Sports at Yale and Director of the Yale Outdoor Education Center.  An NRA-Certified Rife/Pistol/Shotgun Instructor, NRA-Certified Level II Shotgun Coach, and former collegiate shooting champion, Migdalski (“Coach” to team members) is one of the nation’s top collegiate shooting coaches.  He is also a recipient of the NRA’s Outstanding Service to Collegiate Shooting Sports award.  

Tom Migdalski is an accomplished outdoor writer and photographer as well, with work appearing in a variety of regional and national shooting and fishing publications.  In addition to several books on saltwater fishing, Migdalski is the author of The Complete Book of Shotgunning Games, a comprehensive text on clay target shooting.

ASSISTANT COACH

John Clark (“Coach John” to team members), has been with the Yale Skeet and Trap program since April of 2013 as the assistant coach.  John is a NRA-Certified Level-I Shotgun Coach, and is a competitive NSSA and ECSC skeet shooter. John has been a Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) youth coach at a local sportsmen’s club since 2011. 

In the SCTP program, John introduces entry-level youth shooters to the shotgun sports, and several of the athletes whom John has worked with have gone on to join collegiate shooting teams. Coach John also expertly coordinates the Yale team’s gunsmithing and target-machine service and repair needs, and he is first-aid and CPR certified. He can be reached at: john.clark@yale.edu
